Brimstone Museum Complex
This museum is housed in the Old Southern Pacific Railway Depot, and was established to commemorate the development of the Frasch sulfur mining process. Visit the Henning Cultural Center next door for other rotating exhibits.

Cameron Prairie National Wildlife Refuge
This park was established to preserve and protect wintering waterfowl and their habitat. The refuge consists of 9,621 acres that include freshwater marsh, coastal prairie, and old rice fields. The visitor center sits along the eastern side of the Creole Nature Trail All-American Road. Nearby Pintail Drive (2 miles) is open during daylight hours.

This museum offers visitors an extensive collection of local and regionally historic artifacts, an art gallery, and also a look at the 300 year-old Sallier Oak tree.

Mardi Gras Museum
Displaying well over 200 costumes, this museum has the largest collection of Mardi Gras regalia in the world, as well as history, lore and fun facts about King Cakes, throws, krewes and other Mardi Gras staples. It is said to be the largest Mardi Gras museum in the American South.

Sam Houston Jones State Park
This expansive park offers 1,087 acres of lakes, trees, rivers, streams, and spectacular views. Set on major migratory paths, Sam Houston Jones State Parks is an excellent spot for bird watching. The park attracts nearly 200 species in the spring and fall.
